Uniqueness of STFT phase retrieval for bandlimited functions

چکیده

We consider the problem of phase retrieval from magnitudes short-time Fourier transform (STFT) measurements. It is well-known that signals are uniquely determined (up to global phase) by their STFT magnitude when underlying window has an ambiguity function nowhere vanishing. less clear, however, what can be said in terms unique phase-retrievability vanishes on some time-frequency plane. In this note, we demonstrate considering Paley–Wiener spaces, it possible prove new uniqueness results for retrieval. Among those, establish a first theorem magnitude-only samples real-valued signals.

Compressive phase retrieval of sparse bandlimited signals

This contribution proposes a two stage strategy to allow for phase retrieval in state of the art sub-Nyquist sampling schemes for sparse multiband signals. The proposed strategy is based on data acquisition via modulated wideband converters known from sub-Nyquist sampling. This paper describes how the modulators have to be modified such that signal recovery from sub-Nyquist amplitude samples be...

Phase Retrieval for Sparse Signals: Uniqueness Conditions

In a variety of fields, in particular those involving imaging and optics, we often measure signals whose phase is missing or has been irremediably distorted. Phase retrieval attempts the recovery of the phase information of a signal from the magnitude of its Fourier transform to enable the reconstruction of the original signal. A fundamental question then is: “Under which conditions can we uniq...

Fourier Phase Retrieval: Uniqueness and Algorithms

The problem of recovering a signal from its phaseless Fourier transform measurements, called Fourier phase retrieval, arises in many applications in engineering and science. Fourier phase retrieval poses fundamental theoretical and algorithmic challenges. In general, there is no unique mapping between a one-dimensional signal and its Fourier magnitude and therefore the problem is ill-posed. Add...

Uniqueness transition in noisy phase retrieval

Previous criteria for the feasibility of reconstructing phase information from intensity measurements, both in x-ray crystallography and more recently in coherent x-ray imaging, have been based on the Maxwell constraint counting principle. We propose a new criterion, based on Shannon’s mutual information, that is better suited for noisy data or contrast that has strong priors not well modeled b...

Approximation of Bandlimited Functions

Many signals encountered in science and engineering are approximated well by bandlimited functions. We provide suitable error bounds for the approximation of bandlimited functions by linear combinations of certain special functions — the Prolate Spheroidal Wave Functions of order 0. The coefficients in the approximating linear combinations are given explicitly via appropriate quadrature formulae.
